Rome

Day 1 in Rome was spent in a hazy, tired jet lag state. Made it to the Vatican and St Peter's square. Absolutley phenomenal sight! Did not make it inside the Vatican before it closed...long story on that. Have to reschedule Vatican for Tuesday. Piazza Navonna also beautiful. For every popular place, Vatican, Coloseum, ect...there are hidden treasures of art and history scattered all over the city of Rome. You basically cant dig a hole in the ground without finding a buried temple or other artifacts of art/historical importance. Ciao for now, Gio

18 Days left

Well it's Friday the 19th of March which means 18 days left. I had my surgery today, and feel ready to sit on a plane the required 14hrs. It all went so well. I have purchased a small table top tripod for my JVC cam. That'll help with stabilization issues...ie my shaky hand. Purchased some shorts and shirts for the trip and paid for two walking tours I'll be doing while there. The walking tours are with "Rome Walks" and I bought " Twilight walk across Rome" and the walking tour of the "Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere" neighborhoods. I'm going to stay at Hooters Casino the night before I leave to be close to the airport, but really...Im ready now!! Ciao

Will be using "Rome Walks" as a tour guide for an outing ( www.romewalks.com ). I found some interesting pubs and trattoria's in the Trastavere neighborhood of Rome ( www.darpoeta.com ), ( www.cantinaparadiso.it ) ( www.ristorantesabatini.com ).

Anyone who has known me the past few years, knows of my yearing to go to Italy. Well, I was sitting at home looking at dream trips on the Expedia website and it basically fell in my lap!! Rome, 4 star hotel with round trip tix for $1550.00.That's it!! That's all it was!! So I bought it!! I am planning to see all of Rome, the Vatican, the Roman aquaducts, the Colloseum and all the ancient sites and also eat.....eat all of Rome! You my friends, I hope, will be a part of it all. I will be posting video blogs of everything I can think of (except naughty stuff) right here on this blog site. I want to share it all, with as many of you that would like to partake. I will be writing a little here and there until I'm in Rome and then I'll be posting once or twice a day.Amore a tutti, Giovanni
